Kui Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand

Kui Buri is the Thailand that most travellers pass by. A long, soft coastline on the western gulf, coconut plantations that run to the horizon, and mountains that hold one of the country's last great elephant forests.
Life here still follows the tide. Fishing boats leave before sunrise and return with the day's catch; the market fills with fruit from the fields behind the village; in the late afternoon the light turns gold and everything slows down at once.
There are no crowds to escape, because they never arrived. What is here instead is space, nature, warmth and the rare feeling of being somewhere real — a coast for travellers looking for peace, privacy and Thailand at its own pace.
Everything worth knowing within easy reach of The Nine — from wild elephants at dusk to the seafood grills by the harbour.

Long, soft and almost empty. A shoreline made for barefoot morning walks rather than crowds and sunbeds.
Wooden boats, drying nets and the rhythm of the tide. Village life here has kept its own pace for generations.
Landed in the morning, grilled the same evening. Simple, honest cooking with salt, lime and charcoal.
Elephants, gaur, hornbills and pineapple fields against the mountains — the wild edge of the Gulf coast.
Morning produce, tropical fruit and street kitchens where the whole town eats. Bring an appetite and small notes.
A calm bay town of limestone hills, seafront promenades and some of the best seafood on the coast.
An easy hour north for markets, galleries and dinner by the pier — then back to the quiet.
Bays and coves along the coast road, each with its own light, its own sand and very few footprints.
Temples, family kitchens and neighbours who wave as you pass. Thailand as it is lived, not performed.
